Cart use limited to specific communities

Miami and Miami-Dade County generally do not permit golf cart use on public roads. Cart use is confined to specific private communities, gated developments, and limited designated LSV-friendly areas. Street-legal LSVs registered under Florida law can operate on approved 35 mph roads.

Climate & batteries
South Florida heat and coastal humidity accelerate battery corrosion; lithium is increasingly preferred for reliability.

Miami is a buying market with a catch. Miami-Dade County does not allow plain golf carts on public roads outside a handful of communities (Key Biscayne is the famous exception), so most carts sold here are either for private communities, marinas and farms in the Redland, or are street-legal LSVs that can be titled and driven on 35-mph streets in Coral Gables, Coconut Grove, Key Biscayne, Pinecrest and Palmetto Bay. Ask yourself which of those you are before you shop, because it changes the dealer.

Geographically the dealers sit in three clusters. Doral (NW 72nd–77th Ave off the Palmetto) has the big franchise and import showrooms. Kendall / West Kendall has the family service-and-sales shops that have been here twenty years. South Dade — Cutler Bay, Palmetto Bay, the Redland — has the custom builders and the GEM dealer. The South Miami, Cutler Bay and Miami Beach pages cover shops with those addresses.

Miami golf cart dealers by neighborhood

Doral is where to go if you want to see a lot of carts in one morning: Golf Car Depot Miami (E-Z-GO, ICON, Evolution, Denago, Tomberlin), GolfCartMax (ICON, Bintelli, Moke) and Beachside Golf Cars are within a mile of each other off NW 74th Street, and ITC Custom is around the corner for custom work. Advantage Golf Cars — the authorized E-Z-GO, Club Car, Cushman and Yamaha dealer — is just east near the Health District.

Kendall and West Kendall have the family shops: Golf Cart Miami (Dade Equipment) and Tropicars on the SW 130s, Miami Golf Car on SW 104th Street, Extreme Golf Cart and Golf Carts Custom further west. These are the places for repairs, used and refurbished carts and leasing. South Dade has Cutler Bay Carts, GEM of Miami in the Redland and Miami Cart Masters for mobile repair. Moke America sits on Bird Road in Coral Gables and Prime Golf Cars has a Biscayne Boulevard location in North Miami.

Pricing is in line with the rest of Florida — $8,000–$12,000 for a basic new four-seater, $12,000–$18,000 for six-seaters and lifted builds, $18,000–$35,000 for a street-legal LSV, and $4,500–$9,000 for dealer used carts — but Miami has more import brands (ICON, Bintelli, Denago, Evolution, Kandi) at the lower end than most cities, so compare warranty terms and parts availability, not just price. Most dealers here finance and take trade-ins.

Custom golf carts in Miami

Miami's custom scene leans toward paint, wheels and sound rather than off-road lifts. ITC Custom in Doral is the long-running shop; Golf Carts Custom and Cutler Bay Carts build in the south; Miami Golf Car does refurbished Club Cars with new lithium packs and custom finishes at a lower entry price. Budget $12,000–$25,000 for a full custom on a new or refurbished chassis, and say up front if it needs to be street-legal — LSV equipment is cheaper to spec at build time than to add later.

Golf cart repair and batteries in Miami

For repairs on a cart you did not buy new, the Kendall independents are the natural first call: Golf Cart Miami (Dade Equipment), Tropicars, Miami Golf Car and Extreme Golf Cart. Miami Cart Masters and Prime Golf Cars do mobile repairs, which matters in a county where trailering a cart across the Palmetto at 5pm is its own project. Franchise warranty work goes to Advantage (E-Z-GO, Club Car, Yamaha, Cushman) or Golf Car Depot (E-Z-GO, ICON, Evolution).

South Florida heat and salt air are hard on batteries: plan on three to four years from lead-acid and have terminals cleaned every six months if you are near the water. A lead-acid pack runs $900–$1,800, a lithium conversion $2,000–$4,500; most Miami shops now default to lithium for daily-use carts. Chargers and controllers fail more often here than up north because of garage heat — have both tested before buying a used cart.
