Panama City Beach is one of the few Florida cities where a street-legal cart is a practical way to get around rather than a neighborhood toy. The beach grid between Front Beach Road and the Gulf is almost entirely 25–35 mph streets, so a titled low-speed vehicle (LSV) can legally reach the pier, Pier Park, the restaurants on Thomas Drive and most condos. That is why the rental fleets here are LSVs, and why visitors searching for "golf cart rental PCB" outnumber buyers three to one.

The buying and service side is quieter but real: six dealers along Panama City Beach Parkway (Back Beach Road) sell new and used carts to the year-round neighborhoods — Breakfast Point, Latitude Margaritaville at Watersound, Bay Point — and to the 30A communities to the west. If you own a cart here, salt air is your enemy; see the service section for what to budget.

Renting a golf cart in Panama City Beach

Six companies on this page rent carts, and they split into two kinds. The Front Beach Road and Thomas Drive counters — Hangout By The Sea, RallyByTheBeach, Golf Cart Kingdom (three locations) and Beachside Motorsports — are walk-up or online-booking operations with four- and six-seat street-legal carts by the day or week. Delivery rentals — Luxe Kart, and Cruzin30A for longer stays — bring the cart to your condo.

Expect roughly $150–$250 a day or $600–$1,000 a week for a six-seater in season, less in winter. Every rental cart here is a titled LSV, so the driver must have a valid license, be 21 in most fleets, and keep to roads posted 35 mph or under — which rules out Back Beach Road (US-98, 45 mph) and the Hathaway Bridge. Two practical things first-timers get wrong: many condos tow rental carts from their lots (Golf Cart Kingdom warns about it on its own site, so ask where you can park), and carts are not allowed on the sand or the beach access boardwalks.

Book ahead for spring break, Memorial Day through July and Thunder Beach weekends; the fleets sell out.

Buying a golf cart in Panama City Beach: the dealers and brands

The dealers cluster on Panama City Beach Parkway. For a mainstream franchise brand with local warranty support: Panama City Golf Carts (Yamaha, on the Parkway near Breakfast Point), Dixielectricar (E-Z-GO and Cushman, plus Tomberlin LSVs) and Electric Cart Watersound (Club Car alongside ICON, Evolution, Denago, Epic and Star EV — the broadest showroom on the beach). Coastal Cars & Carts and Cruzin30A are the independents, both strong on lifted, lithium, street-legal builds set up for beach roads; Liberty Cart Company covers PCB and Miramar Beach from two stores.

Prices track the rest of Florida: about $8,000–$12,000 for a basic new four-seater, $12,000–$18,000 for six-seaters and lifted carts, $18,000–$35,000 for a factory street-legal LSV. Used carts from these dealers run $4,500–$9,000. Because almost every cart in PCB is driven on public roads, buy or spec it as an LSV from the start; converting later costs $2,500–$5,000 and needs an inspection before Bay County will title it.

Ask about salt protection — undercoating, sealed connections and a lithium pack — if the cart will live within a mile of the Gulf. Most buyers here also want a rear seat kit and a top with a windshield for the afternoon storms.

Golf cart repair and service in Panama City Beach

"Golf cart repair Panama City Beach" is the single most common search that lands here, and there are five real options. Cruzin30A runs a stand-alone service center on Hand Street that takes carts bought anywhere. Coastal Cars & Carts, Panama City Golf Carts, Dixielectricar and Liberty Cart Company all have service departments attached to their dealerships; the franchise shops are the right call for warranty work on Yamaha, E-Z-GO or Club Car.

Salt air is the local killer. Expect lead-acid batteries to last three years rather than five, terminals and cables to corrode, and brake and suspension hardware to rust. Budget $900–$1,800 for a lead-acid pack, $2,000–$4,500 for a lithium conversion (which most PCB shops now recommend, partly because lithium packs are sealed), and a yearly service of $150–$300 for cleaning, lubrication and electrical checks. If a cart has sat in a condo garage through a summer, have the charger and controller tested before you trust it.

Rental fleets maintain their own carts, so the shops above are for owners.

Where you can drive a golf cart in Panama City Beach

Panama City Beach allows titled, insured LSVs on city streets posted 35 mph or under, which covers Front Beach Road, Thomas Drive, the beach grid and most residential areas. It does not cover Back Beach Road (US-98), Hathaway Bridge or the state roads to the east. A plain golf cart that is not titled as an LSV is limited to the specific neighborhoods and private communities that permit it — Bay Point, Latitude Margaritaville and similar — and cannot be driven along Front Beach Road.

Drivers need a valid license for an LSV, and since 2023 anyone under 18 needs at least a learner's permit to drive even a non-LSV cart on any public road in Florida. Carts are not permitted on the beach, on the boardwalk accesses or on sidewalks. Night driving requires working headlights, tail lights and turn signals, which every LSV has and most plain carts do not.

Panama City proper, across the bridge, is a different jurisdiction with far fewer cart-friendly streets — see the Panama City page.

Panama City Beach golf cart questions, answered

How much is a golf cart rental in Panama City Beach?

Roughly $150–$250 a day or $600–$1,000 a week for a street-legal six-seater in season, less in winter. Front Beach Road and Thomas Drive counters (Hangout By The Sea, RallyByTheBeach, Golf Cart Kingdom, Beachside Motorsports) are the walk-up options; Luxe Kart delivers to your condo.

Can you drive a golf cart on Front Beach Road?

Only a titled, insured low-speed vehicle (LSV), which is what every rental cart is. Front Beach Road and Thomas Drive are posted 35 mph or under, so LSVs are legal there. Back Beach Road (US-98) and the Hathaway Bridge are not. A plain golf cart that is not registered as an LSV cannot be driven on Front Beach Road.

Who repairs golf carts in Panama City Beach?

Cruzin30A has a stand-alone service center on Hand Street. Coastal Cars & Carts, Panama City Golf Carts (Yamaha), Dixielectricar (E-Z-GO) and Liberty Cart Company service carts at their dealerships on Panama City Beach Parkway.

Which golf cart brands can I buy in Panama City Beach?

Yamaha at Panama City Golf Carts; E-Z-GO, Cushman and Tomberlin at Dixielectricar; Club Car, ICON, Evolution, Denago, Epic and Star EV at Electric Cart Watersound. Coastal Cars & Carts and Cruzin30A build lifted, lithium, street-legal carts on several chassis.

Do I need a driver's license to rent a golf cart in PCB?

Yes. Rental carts are street-legal LSVs, so the driver needs a valid driver's license; most fleets also require the renter to be 21 and to carry a credit card for the deposit.

How long do golf cart batteries last near the beach?

About three years for lead-acid in Panama City Beach's salt air, against five or more inland. Most local shops recommend a sealed lithium pack ($2,000–$4,500 installed) for carts that live within a mile of the Gulf.
